Mastering versus distribution
Mastering with us delivers polished files: usually 24-bit WAV for archive and formats your distributor accepts. Rate per track €72, album up to twelve tracks €545, with one revision round in scope as described on the service page.
Metadata is mostly entered at your aggregator (Spotify via partners, Apple Music, etc.). We supply technical specs and can help you sanity-check before upload. Legal claims about rights stay with you; see terms and conditions and disclaimer.
Required fields per track
At minimum you need: final title (including feat. notation), artist name as it appears on platforms, release or album title, release date, genre and track number. Instrumental versions need a distinct title, e.g. Song Title (Instrumental), not a silent duplicate filename.
ISRC codes identify a recording uniquely worldwide. Request codes from your national ISRC agency or distributor; do not reuse a code from another mix unless it is exactly the same master. Duplicate ISRCs confuse royalty accounting.
Credits and splits
Record composer, lyricist, producer and performers as you want them shown. In the Netherlands many songwriters also register with BUMA/STEMRA or other societies — separate from studio metadata but it must match your credits.
Do not list artist names without permission. Featured credits must be agreed in advance. Mormonyra will not add fictional guests on your release; we can credit technical roles (mastering engineer) if you want.
Loudness and file formats
Streaming platforms normalise to their targets (often around -14 LUFS integrated for music, with platform-specific true-peak limits). During mastering we listen on familiar monitors and measure peaks and loudness so your track is not too quiet or harsh online.
Deliver to distributors what they ask for — usually 44.1 kHz / 24-bit WAV or FLAC without dither mistakes. Gapless album masters with spacing we discuss when you release a full album, not only singles.
Artwork and product IDs
Cover art at least 3000×3000 px, RGB, no misleading text or brands you may not use. Barcode (EAN/UPC) often comes from the distributor with the product. Keep artwork title aligned with metadata — mismatches get rejected.
Set explicit-content flags where language or theme requires it. Instrumentals and clean edits get their own listings if you release them separately.
Timeline with the studio
- Approve the final mix (up to 2 mix rounds on a mix project).
- Book mastering with a reference track and target platform.
- Check master WAVs for clicks and use clear file names (
Artist_Title_Master.wav). - Enter metadata at the distributor, paste ISRCs.
- Pick a release date with buffer for review (often a few days to a week).
Schedule mastering before you lock marketing dates. Contact us with your deadline; we reply within 2 business days.
Netherlands context
From Amsterdam you often work with international distributors; VAT on studio invoices runs through Mormonyra B.V. with VAT ID NL877581083B01. Keep invoices for your records. Minimum age to book independently is 16.
Podcast or dialogue recording is not a music release, but the same care helps with show notes; see podcast recording if that is your format. More technical mix questions: export stems for mix.
Pre-upload checklist
- Titles, feats. and versions are final and match artwork.
- Each track has a unique ISRC stored in your own spreadsheet.
- Credits match what you file with collecting societies.
- Master files are the version Mormonyra delivered, not a later home master.
- Session privacy: share only what the distributor needs — see privacy policy.
Book mastering via services or 020 808 4193. Session archive stays available 24 months if you must export again.
