Mix production

From rough multitrack to a stereo mix that translates on headphones and speakers — in our control room in Amsterdam or offline from your session files, with a clear track list and agreed revision rounds.

Engineer mixing at desk with teal meters.

Mixing is where separate recordings become a song: levels, pan, EQ, dynamics and space have to work together without burying the vocal or muddying the bass. At Mormonyra, Joris Meijer and the team work on pop, hip-hop, rock and singer-songwriter material tracked here or elsewhere. We do not mix in a vacuum: you hear intermediate versions and give focused notes within the agreed revision rounds.

Mix production suits artists who tracked at home, bands that want an outside ear after live recording and vocal sessions, and producers who save time by outsourcing the final balance. You can sit in for an attended mix or upload stems for offline work — both paths have clear rates and the same quality bar.

Process

  1. 01

    Handoff

You deliver stems or a session export with track list, tempo and references. Within 2 business days we confirm completeness and quote scope.

  2. 02

    Balance

First pass: levels, pan and rough EQ so every source has a place. We send a v1 mix for listening.

  3. 03

    Detail

Compression, sends, automation and edits. We apply your notes in up to 2 revision rounds after v1.

  4. 04

    Export

Final stereo mix as WAV (MP3 on request), plus optional instrumental or TV mix if agreed upfront.

Offline vs in the studio

Offline per track (€185 per song incl. VAT) expects organised stem deliveries: each file as WAV from the same start point, no clipping. Ideal if you cannot travel to Amsterdam but want a consistent mix perspective. Studio hourly (€88) suits attended sessions, quick A/B against references, or projects still on our system after a tracking day.

The EP package up to five tracks (€720) keeps a coherent sound across a small release. Larger projects are quoted via contact. If you export yourself, read exporting stems for mix.

What we need from you

Send a track list with readable names (kick, snare top, lead vox, not Audio 47). State sample rate, bit depth and any tempo changes. Reference mixes show how punchy or dry you want the result — we treat them as direction, not a clone target.

  • All stems as 24-bit WAV from bar one (or a documented offset)
  • MIDI or tuning notes if vocal edits are needed
  • Lyrics only when timing edits depend on them
  • One contact for feedback and revision sign-off

Incomplete deliveries delay the start; we email via [email protected] with a checklist.

How we mix

We start static: relative volumes and panning so the song reads as a whole. Then drums and bass as foundation, vocal and hooks as focus, everything else as support. Reverb and delay sends stay purposeful — we avoid low-mid mud that hides lyrics.

Attended sessions use our desk with 32 inputs so we can patch quickly. Offline, v1 usually lands within five to ten business days after a complete handoff — we confirm dates in writing. Mastering is a separate pass so the mix can settle first.

Revisions and scope

Offline mix and EP packages include 2 revision rounds after the first full mix. Bundle notes per round in one email or shared doc so we can work efficiently. Tweaks inside those rounds are included; brand-new stems or extra recording sit outside scope and bill separately.

Attended hours bill at €88; changes happen at the desk within booked time. More than 2 offline rounds can be added for a fee. See terms and conditions.

Delivery and specs

Final mix is 24-bit WAV, usually 48 kHz unless your project dictates otherwise. High-quality MP3 on request for quick sharing. Instrumental or clean TV mix only when agreed — not automatic.

We keep mix projects for 24 months. Your stems remain yours; we use them only for this job under privacy policy. If we master here too, mix and master align when both steps stay in-house.

Not included

Mix covers balance, EQ, dynamics, edits and export of the agreed stereo file. Not by default: mastering, platform stem masters, heavy creative vocal tuning, sample clearance, producing missing parts, or new tracking in our live room or booth.

If sources are unusable (clip, rumble, wrong rate), we discuss re-tracking or repair separately. After master, release metadata: mastering metadata guide.

FAQ

How should I deliver stems?

Export each track as WAV from the same start, without master-bus processing on individual stems. Our stem guide covers naming. Send a zip or cloud link with the track list in your email.

Mix vs mastering?

Mix balances all tracks into one stereo file. Mastering is the final polish on that stereo for streaming and download. We recommend mastering as a separate step with fresh ears.

Can I attend the mix?

Yes — book studio time at €88 incl. VAT. Offline per track costs less if you can give async notes and skip travel.

Do you mix Atmos or surround?

Standard service is stereo for release and streaming. Spatial formats are case-by-case via contact, usually outside list rates.

How fast after tracking at your studio?

Sessions already on our system skip export hassle. Offline mix starts once scope and stems are approved — typically five to ten business days to v1 unless we agree otherwise in writing.
